This event will be co-located with the 6th International Conference on Intelligent Environments. |
The workshop will bring together researchers from both industry and academia from the various disciplines to contribute to the 2nd year of the International Workshop on Intelligent Environments Supporting Healthcare and Well-Being (WISHWell 2010). Healthcare environments (within the hospital and the home) are extremely complex and challenging to manage from an IT and IS perspective, as they are required to cope with an assortment of patient conditions under various circumstances with a number of resource constraints. Pervasive healthcare technologies seek to respond to a variety of these pressures by integrating them within existing healthcare services. It is essential that intelligent pervasive healthcare solutions are developed and correctly integrated to assist health care professionals in delivering high levels of patient care. It is equally important that these pervasive solutions are used to empower patients and relatives for self-care and management of their health to provide seamless access for health care services. Areas of interest: include, but are not limited to, the following:
Guest Speaker: Dr Gourab Sen Gupta
Dr Gourab Sen Gupta received his B.E. (Electronics) degree from the University of Indore, India, in 1982, Master of Electronics Engineering (MEE) degree from the Philips International Institute, Technical University of Eindhoven, Holland, in 1984 and PhD in Computer Systems Engineering from Massey University in 2008. After graduation, he worked for 5 years as a Software Engineer in Philips India in the Consumer Electronics division. He joined the School of Electrical and Electronic Engineering, Singapore Polytechnic, in 1989. Since September 2002 he has been a Senior Lecturer at the School of Engineering and Advanced Technology (SEAT), Massey University, New Zealand.
His current research interests are in the area of embedded systems, robotics, real-time vision processing, behaviour programming for multi-agent collaboration and sensor applications. He has published over 80 papers in various journals and conferences. He has authored two books, one each on computer programming language VB.NET and Embedded Programming. He has been a guest editor for leading journals such as IEEE Sensors Journal, International Journal of Intelligent Systems Technologies and Applications (IJISTA), and Studies in Computational Intelligence (Special Issue on Autonomous Robots and Agents) by Springer-Verlag. He has served on the organizing committee of several international conferences. He is a senior member of IEEE. Currently he is the Treasurer of the IEEE New Zealand Central Section.
